On the road between our workshops and Amsterdam
Almere sits on the A6 motorway, right between our workshops in Urk and Emmeloord and Amsterdam, where we deliver and install every day. A job in Almere Haven, Stad, Buiten or Poort is literally on the way.
Hekwerk Amsterdam is part of Hekwerkwebshop.nl, set up in early 2013. We build all our fencing ourselves. Only galvanising and powder coating are done by partners, and our own drivers and fitters handle delivery and installation.

What we see in each district
- Almere Poort: newer apartment blocks and family homes. Lots of glass balustrades and roof terrace balustrades.
- Almere Buiten: terraced and semi-detached houses, so mainly garden fencing, side gates and privacy screens.
- Almere Haven: the oldest district, on the Gooimeer, with homes around the harbour and along the water, where a good finish against damp really matters.
- Almere Stad: apartments and roof terraces around the centre and the Weerwater lake, often with a VvE (homeowners’ association) that has a say in how balcony railings look.
Planning for wind
Almere is polder land, flat and exposed, especially on upper floors and by the water. We take that into account when choosing a model and fixing method. Glass with steel posts (G01, or the slim G10) or brushed stainless steel with glass clamps (G02) keeps the view open, while a spindle railing such as A01 to A07 catches less wind.
On a roof terrace we also look at the surface: fixing to the floor, the roof edge or an upstand changes the construction and the price. Our balustrades are at least 100 cm high, and 120 cm where the drop is 13 metres or more. For permits, check with the municipality of Almere. We do not advise on that.
Delivery and installation
Delivery is free, by our own drivers, with no minimum order. You can install the work yourself or have us do it after we measure up on site. Lead time is 6 to 8 weeks from approval, or 8 to 10 weeks in July, August and September. Steel is galvanised and/or powder coated in any RAL colour, and for balconies and roof terraces aluminium is also an option. You always receive the production drawing.

Frequently asked questions
I live high up in Almere Poort. Is glass suitable with the wind?
Yes, glass balustrades are used high up and by the water too. We choose the system and fixing based on what we find when we measure up.
Our VvE wants to replace every balcony railing in the building. Can you help?
Yes. We prepare a proposal for the whole building, with a drawing, so the association can decide on model and colour.
Can I have the fencing delivered only?
Yes. Delivery is free with our own drivers and you install it yourself. We only measure up for jobs we also install.
