Gardens by the water

Weidevenne, on the east side of Purmerend, was built from the 1990s onwards and many of its homes have gardens backing onto a ditch, canal or footpath. The questions are usually the same. How do you close off the garden without losing the view of the water? How do you keep a dog or toddler in? And how do you get a gate that still closes properly years from now?

A common answer is welded mesh or other garden fencing such as our DSM 8/6/8 panels: open, strong and low-maintenance. For shelter around the patio, add a steel privacy screen from the PS range, and finish it off with a made-to-measure gate for the side path or driveway.

Balconies and older buildings

In the older town centre, around the Koemarkt, there are upstairs flats with small outdoor spaces where a Juliet balcony or a flat-roof balustrade is more typical. In the post-war neighbourhoods, blocks of flats often replace their balcony railings as a joint project through the VvE (homeowners’ association). Our balcony railings come in spindle models A01 to A07 or the slatted S02.

Every balustrade we make is at least 100 cm high, or 120 cm from a 13 metre drop. If your building has special status, ask the municipality of Purmerend what applies. We do not give permit advice.

Part of our daily routes

Purmerend is less than half an hour north of Amsterdam Noord, and we are in Amsterdam every working day. Hekwerk Amsterdam belongs to Hekwerkwebshop.nl, which began in early 2013 and makes everything in its own workshops in Urk and Emmeloord. Only galvanising and powder coating are outsourced.

What affects the price

There is no fixed price list, because everything is custom-made. The cost depends on length and height, the model, the finish (galvanised, powder coated or both, in any RAL colour), how it is fixed (posts in the ground, base plates or wall brackets), access, and installation yes or no. You always get the production drawing.
